Iran vice president: Knowledge-based exports to pass $2bn mark soon

Iran’s vice president for science, technology and knowledge-based economy says the country is determined to remove obstacles in the way of knowledge-based exports to exceed 2 billion dollars before the end of the current Iranian year on March 20.

In an interview with the state television on the Iranian Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei’s recent visit to the exhibition of technological and industrial achievements, Rouhollah Dehghani said, the event was mainly aimed at showcasing the role of knowledge- based firms in completing the value chains of various industries and the economy.

He said, as per the Leader’s instructions, Iranian officials are paying extra attention to the economic areas and the potentials of the country, singling out the energy and medical sectors as two important driving forces to help the country achieve its goals.

The vice president added Iran has 89 exports destinations across the world and is seriously engaged in diplomatic talks to increase the volume of knowledge-based exports.

Dehghani also made it clear that Iran seeks to even move beyond exporting its products and develop technological cooperation with other countries.

“We are trying to establish joint sites and production lines in strategic areas such as medicine, and health,” he said, explaining the policy would bond the interests of both sides and cushion the effects of sanctions.
