Iranian scientists develop iris recognition system

An Iranian artificial intelligence company has designed and developed an iris recognition system, which significantly boosts detection of individuals’ identities based on human biometric characteristics.

Hossein Mirheidari, a senior member of the Rayvars company, said the system — developed due to the need for better security — functions based on the physiological or behavioral characteristics of each person for accurate identification.
Since the human eye has unique features, the probability of error in this system is 1 in 1078. Through scanning the iris, the system can check and compare 200 points on the area.
Mirheidari said developing the system has created many job opportunities and helped save foreign currencies.
